Hungary 2002 Report

  • From Scott Corwin, pastor of the Swiss church that sent 2 teams:

Jerry:

Wow! What a fantastic experience we enjoyed in Budapest and Godollo over the past week. We were amazed at all that God was doing when we arrived and how he used us while we were there. We were stretched--physically, emotionally, and spiritually--but God was gracious to provide us with strength every step of the way. We shared, learned, prayed, cried, played basketball, fed, preached, visited, cared, and encouraged...among other things. The result--people came to faith in Jesus!

We worked hard and took advantage of every opportunity, but were never alone. Our hosts were leading the way. The preparations by Tividar, Andrew, and Jonas were excellent. (You were right--it was well organized!) The fellowship we share in Christ drew us together immediately. The week of serving side-by-side made us love and appreciate one another even more. And the hospitality! One of our team members said it best: "We came to be servants and were treated like kings!" The families with whom we stayed were delightful people of faith who love our Lord and his people. I recommend Hungarian cooking! As the week went on my sermons got thinner but my waistline got thicker!

Already we're praying about how God might use us in another partnership project. We've decided it should begin at home with us re-dedicating ourselves to being witnesses in Zurich. It will continue with our participation in another project soon with hopes that we can organize a project to Switzerland in the future.

A quick note now...with more details later. Just getting back in to the office after a week away and have some catching up to do. I'll be in touch with you in greater detail before the end of the week.

With excitement,

Scott
