Church-to-Church Project

 March 12 - 25, 2003

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The churches of the French Baptist Federation invite you to join them for a special week of evangelism from March 16th to 23rd 2003.

Throughout 2003, Evangelical and Protestant churches of all denominations will unite their efforts to make known the Bible and its message of salvation to the inhabitants of France in a major project called SEEK AND FIND – Year of the Bible 2003, involving several European countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Switzerland).

Did you know that 58% of French homes do not possess a Bible? 54% of the French think the Bible is an out-of-date book, having little to say to the modern world.  72% of French people have never read the Bible. 44% of those French people who do possess a Bible never read it

Only 24% of those who read the Bible attend a place of worship.  This only goes to show the ignorance of the French population with regard to the Gospel and to the work and person of Jesus-Christ.

As a union of Baptist churches, we have decided to launch a simultaneous evangelistic campaign with help from International Commission following a first blessed collaboration in March 2001. This time, we expect a team of 300 will join 50 from our local churches for this effort.

Hoping we can rely on your prayers, support and especially your presence, I send you the fraternal greetings of the Baptist churches in France.

Etienne Lhermenault
Executive Secretary of the French Baptist Union
