Event description: The Spa is titled Soul Spa and is an evangelistic event for women. The theme of the event is based on the story of the woman at the well in John 4. Here we witness an encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, where his conversation with her results not only in her salvation, but that of her whole town. The woman is met by the grace and truth of Christ in a situation where her life is laid bare to him in conversation. The Soul Spa event takes this combination of openness, conversation, prayer, teaching and fellowship to lead women to receive Christ. The facilities are set up in several different sections to engage smaller groups of women who are also gathered for teaching sessions in the larger group. Each small group session includes some kind of Spa treatment such as facials, manicures, foot baths and massages. The women will generally treat one another, and it is this mutual treatment that conversation and prayer take place. We will set up the facilities with basins, towels, blankets etc. plus preparing a luncheon and treats for the day. In order to insure the attendance of as many women as possible, we want to provide not only child care – but a children’s program which would be attractive as well. We have imagined a team of 6-8 people. It would be great to have a team for the Spa and a team for the children’s event. Generally it would be best if they were women - perhaps in particular women that have experience with beauty treatments and children’s ministry. This is not a requirement however. The ability to converse and share, and speak in a gathering of about 40 women is more important. It would be good if the team would participate in our Sunday services, where the sharing of testimonies and preaching could be done by team members.
